review: TOUCHED BY EVIL
This is really Paula Abdul's movie, but it sure does have Adrian Pasdar in it, which is why I'm spending neurochemicals watching this. Made for TV, 1997, based on a true story, not at all good, but on the other hand, Adrian, his bubble butt, and a general air of tremendous sexual menace - All right!

This is not his finest moment, but at least he gets to be shirtless a couple of times, and intermittently really scary. And he does look good with blood on his face. His character is stalker-tastic, but still takes the time to spritz his houseplants. And of course, he's sexiest when he gives in to his dark side (his hairstyle markedly improves, too).

Still, this movie is not, er, good, or fun. But it can be obtained through NetFlix if you feel like viewing this curiosity.

I just wanted to remind you that you and Jerry are still welcome to join us for BSG tomorrow night (well, technically tonight!). I'm making a big pot of chili too. If you want to come early we can watch last week's episode before the new one.

I've been contemplating watching some of the early Adrian and Milo stuff, but.... omg, I fear the badness. FEAR. So far I've been lucky... Profit and Near Dark were both actually excellent, and while Top Gun was, er, definitely not to my tastes, Adrian was seriously pretty there in the background. lol

I barely remember Adrian in Top Gun. I've ordered via Netflix Near Dark and I own the Profit series. Milo's stuff, err, not that interested in seeing; but Nathan's...I mean, Adrian's, oh yes. ;) OH and I've ordered that Touched by Evil, too. Just waiting on them to show up.

Milo's stuff is worth it just to look at young Milo. That's why DIRTY DEEDS is such a kick for me, and I really do actually want to own it because it's not so shitty that I'd never watch it again. It's actually not that bad at all. Plus he's the star, so he's on screen almost the entire time...

I'm still on the search, though, for earlier credits (and that season of CSI is now in for me at the library, so look for another episode review soon). I'm sad that goodies from [info]foxsyd didn't work for me, but thank jebus for the library.

I am just now about to watch Cursed. The video store only had the "unrated" version, so I am bracing myself for lots of gooey gore. Wish me luck. *takes deep breath*

I didn't find it in the least bit gory, myself. I think the car accident (if I recall correctly) was the only time I even winced. But I'm a horror-movie-hardened gore hound, so my standards are a little different.

I have no idea why this is "unrated" - probably because they tossed in a couple of trimmed scenes that hadn't been seen by the MPAA when they were putting the DVD package together. DIRTIER DEEDS is only dirtier because you see naked boobs and topless girls kissing each other; the packaging makes it look like it's an orgy-fuelled sexfest. Then again, if I was a 10-year-old boy, naked chicks kissing would probably seem like an orgy-fuelled sexfest!

Oh that's a shame because that plotline sounded like campy fun. Key question - was it boring? I'll forgive a movie almost anything as long as it isn't pretentious or dull. And I speak as a woman who managed to enjoy "Pathology" on its own campy level, so I can set the standards bar pretty low if needs be.

Still if it is indeed dull, then thankyou for throwing yourself on that granade, thus saving the rest of us.

It's a little bit dull, except that the storyline is so amazingly lurid that it's not. It's all about how much you can stand lots of Paula Abdul, and how much of Adrian's high-pitched voice you can stand, too. Seriously he's like an octave higher than Nathan Petrelli - it's genuinely weird. Occasionally on Profit his voice would start seeping into the higher registers; I think Adrian considers it a sign of "unreliability or untrustworthiness", which is kind of a cool approach.

...But it is annoying. Just a tad. I'm glad Nathan's got the manly, baritone, authoritarian lisp of power. ^__^

Yeah, this movie is horrible. But I'm still glad I saw it because Adrian saying "ravish" in any context is good by me.

LOL. I hadn't noticed before, but yes, his tone was quite annoying at times in Profit. Something I realized, the older he gets, the better looking he gets. In Profit he still had baby fat on him or something; he wasn't as streamline as he is in Heroes. Don't know if he lost weight for the role or muscled up for it or what, but he looks a helluva lot tastier now than he did then...which is hard, because he was sexy as hell 'back then', too. ;)

I think he just naturally got thinner - he was pretty much the biggest I've ever seen him in Profit; but he's thinner right now (or, last I saw him) than when he was 20-something in Near Dark. And yet not as muscular, either; his abs used to be STUPID. I don't see a twelve-pack like that very often; usually only on professional martial artists who do kung-fu all day, every day. I have no idea what he was doing.
